I never originally saw the point of it, but the first time I had to change computers after getting into fanfic, I needed something more sophisticated than IE's bookmarking system. I tried Google's system and kind of hated it; I later tried Delicious, and it turned out to be perfect for my needs. I even changed from IE to Firefox strictly because the Delicious tagging tools started crashing IE hard.
And my project is fannish. It may have something to do with how long it took me to really get how the memories at stargateficrec were organized, and the near impossibility of determining whether a story has been recced in a different category recently. It's also possible that if I'd realized how huge an undertaking it would be, I wouldn't have bothered, but I'm too far in to stop now!
(It's not at all ready for any kind of public mention yet, but if you're curious, you can feel free to take a peek (http://www.delicious.com/michelel72/YSGFicRec). All tags prefixed with Y are part of this (to keep them separate from the rest of my tags): YSGFicRec on all entries, then "YA-"-prefixed tags for authors, "YC-" for categories, "YS-" for show, "YDY-" for year of rec, and "YDM-" for month of rec. "YX-DeadLink" means that I couldn't easily find a working (non-archive.org) link. I have everything from 2004, 2009, and 2010 indexed, plus the first two months of 2005; 38 categories are not yet indexed from the intervening period. It's most useful for exploring, or for looking up key words from titles since the link I picked for each might not match anyone else's — I prefer sites that allow single-page viewing, but personal websites go dark, and I'm sometimes inconsistent. The problematic part is that these cross with my own personal bookmark collection, so those have my commentary as well. I've also made more than a couple of mistakes, some of which I've caught myself but plenty of which I'm sure remain. But it's helped me with my own rec-making for the comm, so if I ever finish it, I'll probably be offering it as an unofficial, non-comm-sanctioned resource ....)
