I'm less worried about the conspiracy than in how the characters are reacting to their circumstances -- which is a reversal for me, because I usually consider the causative elements just as vital to the worldbuilding as any other element (if not more so). I think it may be that they've been so good with the characters and interactions that I trust them to come up with something coherent and, more importantly, have worked that stuff out already.
It's kind of sad that I've been pleasantly surprised by nearly every scene simply for not playing into disappointing tropes. I'll miss that ... :sniff:
