I'm glad the scene with Max worked for you — I know I'd have a hard time in his situation, with any of my six (!) cats in the role.

I do have extensive (thirty ... thousand ... words ...) notes for a sequel; I'm just having trouble shaping them into an actual story. I'm really happy to hear that you think this part works alone.
