All the time, every day, new connections surface. New contexts and interactions arise.

I grew up watching BBC's Doctor Who on PBS. If I've understood 530nm330hz correctly, the British program The Prisoner was a similarly common PBS staple similar cult favorite, though it wasn't one I ever ran across.

Doctor Who has been resurrected and is now on the 10th incarnation (actor-version) of The Doctor over in Britain. The SciFi Network is airing the previous season, Doctor #9, in the US currently. I think they picked it up because of the surprising success of the recent reversioning of Battlestar Galactica.

The actor who played Doctor #9, Christopher Eccleston, was rumored to have been tapped for a reversioning of The Prisoner. It currently seems he won't or at least may not be in the role, but the connection is how I learned that there is to be a new series. I hereby pass that news along to anyone who is interested but didn't already know.

And all these connections have left me dizzy.

I've been watching the new Doctor Who, am up to date with the series, and am looking forward to the new version of The Prisoner.

Of course, I don't know if/when it will come Stateside. But I'd be interested at least in checking it out if it does, even if I don't really know the old series. I never watched the original Battlestar Galactica, either, and I really like the new one.

The new Doctor Who was silly enough to make me worry it was one of those things I shouldn't revisit if I didn't want to reconsider those happy childhood memories, but the more recent few episodes have been quite good, I think. Or else my standards are slipping!

I never watched the original Galactica, and I'm startled everytime I find myself praising the new one.

I caught a lot of old Doctor Who in college, but I'm not as well versed as many other people I've known.

And I should correct your impression: it's hard to be a "common PBS staple" when all you have is 17 one-hour (i.e., 44 minute) episodes. I was first exposed to The Prisoner at MIT, during East Campus's annual marathon viewing.
