Timing is everything

Whenever I go to Amazon, I check for various DVD titles I want to make sure to order once they're announced. I'd been keeping an eye out for a whole-series collection of Stargate: SG-1 because I came to the series late and have enjoyed what I have seen of it. So a few days ago I noticed that a full-series collection had shown up, with a pre-order sale price around $215 (and a list price near $300). Today, the pre-order price is about $275. Quite a jump!

We're looking to buy the whole series as well, but we want to make sure to get all ten seasons in the thin cases. Any idea how to make sure of that?

No clue at this stage, unfortunately -- Amazon hasn't yet posted product details, and I can't trace the news itself any further back than TVShowsOnDVD.com. MGM's press site still has only "season ten" news. I can let you know once I get it, if that's any help to you. (I would hope they would go with a compact version for a ten-season set, but I know there's no guarantee they actually will.)

Alternately, you could forego the extra features and buy the Seasons 1-9 giftset through Amazon; they've slashed the price on that one for one-day sales and might again. That does seem to be in thinkpak format, as is the standalone Season 10. Still, you don't get everything that way.

I think I'm missing something here. Are you saying that they're selling a full-series set which is in some way different from just buying seasons 1-9 plus season 10? (For example, the way they sold a special Buffy set, and a MASH set, and a West Wing set, once those series had concluded.)
