Do I Know You?

[livejournal.com profile] violetcheetah will tell you that I am horrible at recognizing people, including actors. Horrrrrrrrible. She has grown quite practiced at the "Are you blind?!" expression when I mention finding some actor interesting.

I missed spotting Paul McGillion in the new Star Trek; I'm not remotely surprised. I also managed not to recognize Simon Pegg in the same film, which is pretty much inexcusable. I completely failed to recognize David Nykl (Zelenka!!) in Sanctuary. And I just learned that Dr. Tess Newman (Eureka) = Lt. Laura Cadman (Stargate: Atlantis).

Subclinical prosopagnosia FTL?

Okay, I've been watching Eureka as well and that completely slipped by me as well.

Hee. At least I'm not alone, then!

Tess is growing on me. I can't quite tell if they meant to paint the character as completely unreasonable in her introduction or if that was inadvertent, but they've toned it down at least. (That said, I haven't seen the most recent episode. ::fingers crossed::)

I never know actors. I don't even try.

I mostly don't try, just because I'm so bad at it; but when it's Big Name Actors or ones I've especially liked, it's a little embarrassing ....

I keep an eye out for the names of writers and production staff, myself.

With a few Really Big Name exceptions, I don't even try there. I've got a small chance with a physical presence as an association; if it's just a name, trying to remember who goes with what in the thousands of narratives I've consumed gets hopeless rapidly ....
