Health Management for -- no, BY idiots

Socialized medicine is inherently evil! We can't have that! Hey, I know -- let's require everyone to have private health insurance! It'll be great! We'll embed a for-profit enterprise in the middle of an essential service, inherently driving up costs! And everyone will have different coverage! And employer-sponsored coverage is the best way we can do that! And if the employer is a hospital, why, that's even better! We can force people to jump through completely stupid hoops, like making someone who lives one mile from one hospital drive fifty miles to the ER of a different one (while in crippling pain) because the first one isn't owned by the same company! What a fantastic idea!

Stupidity day

I don't use text messaging, but apparently I can't turn off the ability to receive text messages. Today I got two (one message split, apparently); the first started "Hey I got your number from a friend of mine but I bet you can't guess who I am." It then invited me to ... communicate with them in some form or other, I dunno, I deleted that part first.

Who the hell would answer a message that started that way?? "Why sure, random stalker and/or spammer, I'd love to start a blind relationship with you!"
