I've never read anything written by the man who uses the pseudonym "Christopher Pike". A quick check at Wikipedia shows that I easily could have, based on when he started publishing; I just never did.
But boy howdy does he sound like a piece of work.
You just have to laugh. (Or at least I have to, because it's that or get depressed that such a patently careless, half-assed hack is a prolifically published author ....)
